Nabad holds the sixth edition of its annual series of exhibitions, “Trendsetting,” with this year’s show featuring six emerging and established artists, architects and designers, each creating unique items especially for this event. The pieces include an artwork entitled, ‘Impression’ by architect Hiba Shahzada, in which she explores the concept of space and the versatility of copper. Onur Lambaz takes the ordinary metal clothes hanger and up-cycles it to a decorative chandelier or room divider, also displaying sculptural metal necklaces. Designer Abdulrahman Asfour creatively recycles car and motorbike parts into unconventional and trendy home or office furniture and accessories. Industrial designer Therwah Abdulhaq creates the ‘T Bottle’ project, painting empty bottles with landscapes, portraits and traditional motifs. Established furniture designer Suliman Innab presents sculptural table and chairs of brass and wood with an Art Deco quality. Finally, cushions silk-screened with Syrian painter Boutros al-Maari’s angelic dervishes will be on display for the first time.
