Nabad presents an exhibition of works by Himat M. Ali, a French artist of Iraqi-Kurdish origin. The exhibition includes a new collection of paintings and digital collages inspired by his latest trip to Japan, which he visits frequently and where he has already held ten solo shows. Himat produced an art book with the late Japanese poet, Gotaro Tsunezumi, who was a close friend of Himat's and wrote a series of poems that inspired a large number of paintings. “Every spring,” writes Himat, “flowers accompany me as a friend. They live and they die in front of me, silently. There is no need for speech. Just light and colour.”
Born in Kirkuk, Iraq in 1960, Himat has held over twenty solo exhibitions, in Japan as well as in various Arab countries, in France, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. He has lived in Paris since 1992.
