Shamoun held ten one-man shows between 1971 and 1997. He participated in numerous group exhibitions in Jordan, as well as in Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Iraq, Kuwait, Norway, Oman, Palestine, Spain, UAE, UK and the Ukraine. He designed and executed background paintings for national festivals in Jordan and organized a number of children's educational exhibitions and training workshops.

Abdul Raouf Shamoun contributed to Ministry of Education art textbooks in Jordan and has written and published numerous articles on art. He is a member of the Jordanian Writers' Association and currently teaches art at the Amman Academy. Shamoun was awarded the Jordanian National Prize for the Arts in 1990 and the Sharjah Biennale Prize in 1993.
