Throughout her thirty-year career as an artist, Ghada has consistently been moved and inspired by the doors and windows of Palestinian refugee camps, drawing from a variety of Middle Eastern symbols and patterns used in embroidery, rugs and other crafts of the region. In “Patterns of Existence,” Ghada adopts a different perspective on her familiar theme of doors and windows. In her new collection of mixed media monoprints, she celebrates the woven checkered pattern of an iconic symbol of Palestinian culture, the Kufiya.

During the last three years, Egypt and the Arab region have witnessed radical changes politically, socially, and consequently in art, which is a deep and genuine reflection of social change. The unique vision depicted in the diverse works on display at Nabad represents an artistic document by seven Egyptian artists who have experienced, and been an essential part of, the uprising. The concept revolves around the Egyptian individual, who is the focus of all things—daily life, the streets, the walls, the graffiti, memory and dreams.

In the context of the 4th Edition of the International Image Festival in Amman, organized by the Institut Français de Jordanie under the theme of “Together,” Nabad opens an exhibition of photographs by Nadim Gargour entitled, “Harmony in Diversity.” The photographs capture the dynamics of social interactions and the warmth of companionship and togetherness in simple, traditional contexts. His subjects are people at work, at play and in worship, in such varied places as Vietnam and Cambodia, Lebanon, India, Oman and Jordan.
