TRENDSETTING V: SIX JORDANIAN INTERIOR DESIGNERS

In this fifth edition of Nabad’s annual “Trendsetting” exhibition series, six established Jordanian interior designers exhibit a collection of conceptual, decorative and functional objects. The unique limited-edition creations have been especially designed for the show. Nisreen Abudail’s pieces are inspired by the beauty of traditional embroidery and celebrate the concept of ‘Unity’. Suzanne Abujaber displays a series of wall-hanging racks inspired by the fish skeleton, creating different characters and styles through an innovative play of materials and colours.

PATTERNS OF EXISTENCE

Throughout her thirty-year career as an artist, Ghada has consistently been moved and inspired by the doors and windows of Palestinian refugee camps, drawing from a variety of Middle Eastern symbols and patterns used in embroidery, rugs and other crafts of the region. In “Patterns of Existence,” Ghada adopts a different perspective on her familiar theme of doors and windows. In her new collection of mixed media monoprints, she celebrates the woven checkered pattern of an iconic symbol of Palestinian culture, the Kufiya.

STUDENTS & GRADUATES OF THE FACULTY OF ART & DESIGN 2014

This third exhibition of works by students and graduates of the Faculty of Art and Design at Jordan University is curated by renowned Jordanian artist and teacher, Mohanna Durra. The exhibitions aim to promote and encourage exceptional emerging artistic talent in Jordan. The participants in this exhibition include, Aya Abu Ghazaleh, Hind Aljermi, Shurooq Bushnaq, Msallam Hdeib, Yasmeen Kanaan, Lojain Nahhas, Omar Najjar and Yazan Salman.

HAPPENING NOW: EGYPTIAN CONTEMPORARY ART

During the last three years, Egypt and the Arab region have witnessed radical changes politically, socially, and consequently in art, which is a deep and genuine reflection of social change. The unique vision depicted in the diverse works on display at Nabad represents an artistic document by seven Egyptian artists who have experienced, and been an essential part of, the uprising. The concept revolves around the Egyptian individual, who is the focus of all things—daily life, the streets, the walls, the graffiti, memory and dreams.

BOLD IMPRESSIONS

Nabad features six young Jordanian artists whose artworks are uniquely compelling in both form and content. Through a variety of media, including bronze, oil, acrylic and digital collage and print, the group represent the strength and innovative spirit of their local counterparts. Hani Alqam displays his familiarly dramatic portraits in intense hues, while Samer Kurdi shows digital prints and oils reminiscent of his earlier large canvases. Both Alqam’s and Kurdi’s works contain a social commentary and are inspired by urban culture.

HARMONY IN DIVERSITY

In the context of the 4th Edition of the International Image Festival in Amman, organized by the Institut Français de Jordanie under the theme of “Together,” Nabad opens an exhibition of photographs by Nadim Gargour entitled, “Harmony in Diversity.” The photographs capture the dynamics of social interactions and the warmth of companionship and togetherness in simple, traditional contexts. His subjects are people at work, at play and in worship, in such varied places as Vietnam and Cambodia, Lebanon, India, Oman and Jordan.

A TRIBUTE TO RAFA NASIRI

Nabad opens "A Tribute to Rafa Nasiri," an exhibition of works by twenty-four Iraqi artists representing two generations and tracing the influence of the 1960s generation, Rafa Nasiri and his colleagues on later generations.
