Nabad opens an exhibition of paintings and collages by young Jordanian architect and painter, Rawan Kakish. In her second solo exhibition, “Testimony of Presence,” Rawan Kakish presents a new collection of portraits and cityscapes. Using photographs of elderly people as inspiration for her portraits, and archival photographs of Amman as a background to her mixed media collages, the artist bears witness to the past by capturing spontaneous moments in time and infusing them with warmth and nostalgia.

Nabad Art Gallery presents an exhibition of paintings and photographs of flowers, in a wide variety of styles and media, entitled “Freshly Cut.” On display are watercolours, acrylics and oils on canvas, as well as a number of photographic works. Flowers have served as a source of artistic inspiration throughout history to symbolize beauty and purity, from the ancient Egyptians who used them for ornamental purposes on sculptures and jewellery, all the way to the modernist close-up abstracts of Georgia O’Keefe and to the present.

Nabad presents an exhibition of works by celebrated Lebanese artist, Hussein Madi. His third solo show at Nabad, this exhibition features paintings, collages and reliefs, as well as a number of giclèe prints, in which the artist’s pictorial vocabulary continues to display ironic playfulness in joyful, vibrant colours. These experiments in colour have produced a unique body of work that relates to the principles of divine harmony that inform the abstract designs of Islamic art.
