LOVE ON PAPER

On 26 November 2012 at 6:00 pm, Nabad opens an exhibition of works by prominent Jordanian artist, Wijdan. She utilizes Arabic calligraphy in her artworks, with a particular focus on the Sufi concept of love. Wijdan’s artworks are an expression of what she believes are “the essential qualities of Islamic art that focus on spiritual representation.” This is Wijdan’s thirtieth solo exhibition. Her most recent solo shows were held at the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, Italy in 2010 and the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman in 2011.

TRENDSETTING III

On Sunday 23 September 2012 at 6:30 pm, under the patronage of HRH Princess Alia Tawfiq Tabbaa, Nabad opens the third edition in a series of annual exhibitions dedicated to promoting design, a relatively new but fast-growing art genre in Jordan. “Trendsetting III” brings together eleven Jordanian artists to exhibit an innovative collection of uniquely designed decorative and functional items, in addition to a number of artworks.

JORDAN UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF ART & DESIGN STUDENTS 2012

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Nabad opens an exhibition of artworks by twelve outstanding graduates and students of the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Jordan, on Tuesday 4 September 2012. This is the second exhibition of works by JU students at Nabad, which aims at fostering young artistic talent in Jordan.

FLOOR TO CEILING II & DESIGN SALON

Beginning on Sunday 15 July 2012, Nabad presents its Summer 2012 event, featuring Nabad's "Floor to Ceiling II" exhibition, and the launch of Nabad's Design Salon, a special space at Nabad dedicated to promoting uniquely designed items by talented artists and designers. In 2010, Nabad started "Trendsetting," a series of annual exhibitions dedicated to promoting design. Our Design Salon supports and continues this concept.

SCULPTURES, RELIEFS & DRAWINGS

Nabad presents a solo exhibition of sculptures, reliefs and drawings by sculptor Samer Tabbaa. The exhibition will be launched and introduced by art collector James Eldridge. Tabbaa's artistic career spans over thirty-five years.

A REFUGE IN MARGINS

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Rahma bint El Hassan, Nabad presents an exhibition of paintings by Jordanian architect and self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist, Dina Haddadin, on Wednesday 2 May at 6:30 pm. The artist uses both traditional and experimental techniques, including installation and video, creating multi-layered works that address the concept of the ‘margins', those ‘leftover' spaces in the urban landscape where architecture reaches the border of human intervention.

FOLK TRUCK ART FROM PAKISTAN

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in cooperation with Nabad Art Gallery, Etihad Airways and the Royal Automobile Museum, under the patronage of HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan, presents a unique exhibition of functional and decorative objects painted by the artisans of Tribal Truck Art, a philanthropic organization established by a Pakistani woman entrepreneur, Anjum Rana. The exhibition also includes old Pakistani embroidery.

RECENT WORKS

Nabad Art Gallery presents an exhibition of works by established Jordanian painter and architect, Ammar Khammash. These recent works represent the artist's continuing venture into new territories. During the past few years, Khammash worked along numerous lines simultaneously. A rich body of paintings includes the subject of figures, which is rare for an artist established in landscape painting. The work exhibited explores the human body through the eye of a landscape artist and shares the results in watercolours, drawings, large paintings and stone sculptures.

PAPER, CLAY & MEMORY IV

Nabad presents an exhibition of ceramic works and limited-edition prints by one of the Arab world's foremost ceramists, prize-winning Jordanian artist Mahmoud Taha. Over the past four decades, Taha has been focusing on Jerusalem, and depicting the dire conditions of the Palestinian people. Through his calligraphic skills, he continues to highlight the rich legacy of the Islamic civilization.
