Iraqi painter and printmaker Rafa Nasiri is widely-known in the Arab world and beyond for his culturally rich artworks and elegant style. During the last decade, he has been inspired by poetry as varied as that of Al-Mutanabbi, Mahmoud Darwish and Etel Adnan. This poetic journey, coupled with a preoccupation with the element of time, has produced works that celebrate beauty, love and the homeland. Born in 1940, he studied painting and printmaking in Baghdad, Beijing and Lisbon.

Nabad's fourteenth exhibition, "Cities and Villages of Jordan," features a collection of paintings on the theme of the country's urban and rural landscapes. Ranging from the figurative to the conceptual, the works exhibited are by ten Jordanian artists, the first three of whom are professional architects: Saba Innab, Ammar Khammash, Ali Maher, Hani Alqam, Clara Amado, Riham Ghassib, Omar Hamdan Shahuan, Salam Kanaan, Issam Tantawi and Ala' Younis. They all share a keen eye for the aesthetic and unique qualities of the country's natural and built environments.

"Contemplations" is a collection of paintings by award-winning Jordanian artist Khalid Khreis. His paintings represent a continuation of his contemplations on the human spirit, nature and the cosmos. These new works are a result of many years of ascetic meditation into "al-zahir wal-batin (the esoteric and the exoteric)." His rich artistic and professional careers span over thirty years.

In March 2010, a group of twelve emerging young women artists will exhibit artworks and perform in a unique display of talent to celebrate women's creative self-expression at Nabad in Amman. An exhibition of paintings by Sima Bustami, Natasha Dahdaleh, Laila Demashqieh, Dina Haddadin, Rawan Qaqish, Karma Shawa and Nahla Tabbaa, as well as an interactive installation by Toleen Toq, will open at Nabad on 3 March at 7 pm.
