BOOK SIGNING AND LAUNCH
AL SAID & HIMAT: STORY OF THE UNSEEN IN PAINTING

As part of the exhibition, "In the Forest of Love," which featured a new collection of paintings and art books by Paris-based Iraqi artist, Himat, with a number of works by his late mentor, one of Iraq's most influential artists, Shaker Hassan Al Said, Nabad hosted the launching of the book, Al Said and Himat: Story of the Unseen in Painting, which appeared in April 2010. Himat was present to sign copies of the book. The text consists of an article on the two artists, in Arabic, by art critic Farouk Yousif, with a long excerpt in English and French translation. The book features a large number of images of Al Said and Himat's artworks. Iraqi poet and writer May Muzafar introduced the book at the launch. The exhibition and book launch were sponsored by the French Embassy and the French Cultural Center (Le Centre).
