IN LIVING COLOUR

Creativity is a glimpse into the realms of endless possibilities. It sneaks upon us and takes over our senses, tempts us to delve into the unknown realms of our psyche. Although it might be rooted in the deep confines of our consciousness, neatly tucked away between reality and imagination, it forces us to go beyond the mere physicality of being.

Creativity is that place where intuition and experience meet. It is a collage of seemingly disconnected found objects, feelings or thoughts which we attempt to bring to life through the spoken word or marks on paper or clay.

LINES OF ESCAPE

“….without a set of impossibilities, you won’t have the line of flight, the exit that is creation, the power of falsity that is truth. Your writing has to be liquid or gaseous simply because normal perception and opinion are solid, geometric … You have to open up words, break things open ….” (Deleuze and Guattari)

In “Lines of Escape,” Basel Uraiqat transforms the line into a force flowing through the space of the board to create streams, planes, and worlds of visual asylum.

PUZZLES OF LIFE

According to Elmer Dumlao, “Life is simple… Life is complicated… Life is a struggle… Life is beautiful… Life is love. We live in an unpredictable world where life exists in mysterious ways.”

Elmer creates “Puzzles of Life” as a challenge in his journey to the labyrinth world through his impulsive expressions of breath into multi-dimensional art, for us to analyze, enjoy, discover and solve.
